The South Muskoka Minor Hockey Association and the Huntsville Minor Hockey Association have formed an alliance with the George Corn Memorial Fund (GCMF), supported by the Children’s Foundation of Muskoka (CFM). The GCMF will make it possible for a number of girls and boys to start to play hockey in the 2019-2020 season.

The program will focus on new entrants into hockey, targeting children ages 5 – 7. In particular, the program will hope to reach youngsters who might never have had a chance to play the game due to financial barriers.

George Corn had been a ‘seasonal resident’ of Muskoka for over five decades, living on Echo Lake just west of Torrance. But, more recently, George  lived in Bracebridge as he continued to practice law and serve the community as a member of the Rotary Club of Bracebridge / Muskoka Lakes.

George was an accomplished athlete and played college-level hockey. But he found a special level of enjoyment when he coached new hockey players who were finding their own love for the game.

More information will be released in the near future as the South Muskoka Minor Hockey Association and the Huntsville Minor Hockey Association begin their registration process.

In the meantime, anyone wishing more information should contact Dave Lyons through the Children’s Foundation of Muskoka: davelyons.cfm@gmail.com or 705-641-9455.Further information is coming soon to the CFM website – check it out at, childrenofmuskoka.com.
